The Magi - The Kingmakers

The Magi are a mysterious group of high-level mages that were born to form the world into its next era by choosing King Vessels. Due to this legendary mission, people tend to show the people who hold this position a level of reverence and respect not shown to anyone other than kings. 

Magi do not start out with a corresponding King Vessel, and thus have to choose them from candidates who have conquered dungeons. This is not to say that all dungeon conquerors will end up being a King Candidate, but all dungeon conquerors could end up King Candidates. 

Furthermore, despite this mission that seems almost holy, there is nothing physically dictating the moral code of a magi - They can do whatever they want, as they are given the same free will as any other human. However, their actions do draw a lot more attention, which means that any crime they do will be known about pretty quickly.

The Phoenix Sage

The Pheonix Sage is a magi that is, supposedly, linked with the country of Ream and helped to choose the last Emperor. However, that was the last time that he was seen by public eye. This magi was so intensely feared because of his apparent ability to avoid death. Not content with the Magi's extended lifespan, this magi was apparently so powerful that he could make his body back out of the sheer collective rukh, thus bringing himself back from the dead. However, this legend is disbelieved by the majority of people nowadays, and due to not being seen for the last decade, a lot of people believe that he's dead and has been replaced by a new magi.
